Despite falling to a fifth straight defeat of the season, Youth Team boss Louis Lancaster thinks that victories are just around the corner.
The Youth Team went down 2-1 to rivals QPR but Louis was pleased with the character his side showed to get back into the game in the second half.
The Youth Team boss believes that if his team keeps showing this same determination and character then results on the pitch will begin to turn in their favour.
Louis said: “I think we were definitely worth a point but if you don’t put away your chances then it’s going to cost you.
“Keeping going after falling two behind shows really good character, something we have proved quite a lot this season.
“There was a little bit more spice to the game given it was QPR but I felt that the boys stuck at it well and made it a close finish to the game.
“You can either give up or you can push on. Every game they are pushing on and every Monday morning they are coming in hungry.”
Louis believes that with a bit more composure in the final third his side will start scoring the goals which their play deserves.
“We are close to winning football matches,” said Louis.
“We are quite comfortable on the ball at the back but when it gets into midfield and closer to their goal the speed of the play gets quicker and you have to deal with the ball even when you are marked.
“I think that is where we are struggling at the moment and that is what we will be focussing on this week – dealing with the ball under pressure.
“We have worked on keeping the ball and providing depth using our centre-backs and, at times, if they can, bringing it out themselves.
“Today I felt they went a bit too long and QPR had a big centre-half and he was just eating up all the headers.
“That’s where we need to be good enough to bring it into the midfield with the ball under pressure and shift it across the pitch.
The Youth Team have been drawn at home against Barnet in the First Round of the F.A Youth Cup, a side who Louis will feel they should have beaten in the league encounter earlier this season.
“The Barnet game in the League was one of our best performances of the season,” said Louis.
“We dominated the ball and possession but it just came down to mistakes which we have to eliminate.
“We are pretty confident. We will prepare the boys and watch the videos and then we will go from there.”
