Louis Hutton said results would come for Brentford’s Development Squad if their performances kept improving.
The Bees drew 2-2 with Colchester United in an Under-21 Professional Development League Two match on Monday.
Louis said Brentford controlled the first half but fell behind just after the break.
Montell Moore equalised and Josh Clarke put Brentford in front but Colchester levelled late on to earn a draw.
The Bees have only won one of ten development league games this term and have just six points.
Louis said the squad would be looking to build on what they had done against Colchester, take it on to their next game, against Bristol City next week, and look to get the win.
“When we went 1-0 down we were still confident we would win, we were playing well,” said the midfield player, talking to Bees Player after the draw.
“It was when we went 2-1 up that we got a bit shaky and at 2-2 it was nervous.
“We did well to make sure we didn’t lose.
“We stopped the rot and can now get a win next week.
“We have to take the positives and each game as it comes.
“We have to try and progress next week and try and win.
“We play Bristol City and have to build on the performance.
“If we keep improving performances the wins will come.”
Louis said he felt Brentford deserved to be ahead at half time but 2-2 was fair overall.
He said he felt The Bees would win the game when they went ahead.
“I think 2-2 was fair,” said Louis.
“We deserved to go in ahead at half time, but it wasn’t to be.
“The second half was pretty even.
“When we went 2-1 up I thought we were going to win but they got another lease of life and came back on to us.
“We conceded straight after half time, which wasn’t good, especially after a positive first half.
“We wanted to go back on the front foot in the second half and take the game to them.
“Them scoring made it hard for us but we did really well to get back in to it and deservedly got ourselves in to the lead.”
Brentford have lost their past two development league games to Swansea City and Crystal Palace and Louis said he felt they had played better against Colchester.
He played alongside Marcos Tébar in midfield before the Spaniard, who is returning after injury, was taken off and replaced by Tyrell Miller-Rodney.
Louis said he enjoyed the game.
“Over a full game I thought we played better than we have done for a few weeks, which is always good,” he said.
“I think we controlled the first half and the second half was more stretched.
“There were gaps, holes and spaces to play in but we didn’t play as well in the second half.
“I enjoyed playing with Marcos.
“I haven’t played with him before.
“I thought we passed the ball well.
“He went off and Tyrell came on, he likes to get forward and is more energetic.
“It was good and I enjoyed it.”
Former Republic of Ireland international Lee Carsley has taken over as Brentford Development Squad Manager.
Louis said the group were enjoying working with their new coach, who had taken over from Jon De Souza.
“Lee was a player that was very strong out of possession,” said Louis.
“I think that’s the main thing I have to work on.
“If I work from him hopefully I can get better.
“We are enjoying working with Lee so far.
“Jon was good but Lee is different, his sessions have been good and the group likes him.
“I think we are improving as a team.
“He played lots of Premier League games and played against the best players in the world.
“It would be silly not to listen to him.”
Brentford have four games in the next four weeks in the run up to Christmas and Louis said that would help the squad.
“We need games to improve,” he said.
“We play football to play in matches.
“We have a good run up to Christmas.
“We can get our teeth in to it and try to win a few games.”
