Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said he was “very happy” with his team’s win pre-season friendly win over Millwall but admitted injuries were a cloud on the horizon.
The Bees scored three second half goals to beat the Championship side at Griffin Park.
Sam Saunders curled in just after half time before Paul Hayes and Stuart Dallas added a second and third.
However, Simon Moore was withdrawn after nine minutes after falling heavily and Uwe said others were also suffering, although he did not give any names.
“I am very happy,” said Uwe, speaking after the match.
“The boys continued with what we have shown from day one in pre-season, in Germany and in our games.
“Unfortunately we lost one or two players - that is the only downside.
“We did not have one injury in the first three weeks, now we have picked up a few in the last three days.
“The medical team will be busy and then we will see where we are.
“It’s not nice, the boys have put a lot of hard work in to come to this point, but we will deal with it.
“It’s frustrating, but there is nothing we can do.”
Brentford narrowly missed out on promotion from League One last season, finishing third in the table and losing the Play-Off Final.
Uwe said there had been a technical improvement in the squad over the summer and he felt everyone inside Griffin Park could see what his team were trying to achieve against the South London side.
He praised the way the players pressed the ball on a hot evening and hailed the hunger and work rate of his side.
He added that it was only a friendly and no points were won.
“It was nice to see how we kept the ball and played football,” said Uwe.
“We have raised our technical level from last season with the new players.
“The pressing today was very, very good for the short time we have been doing it in our sessions.
“That was spot on.
“Pressing high up is a lot about willingness and co-ordination, not going in singles, pushing the whole team higher.
“That worked well and the players kept their hunger to work hard.
“We gave Millwall no time on the ball, we restricted them to long balls.
“The only minus is we lost two or three headers in the box when Millwall could have come back in to the game.
“We played a decent opposition and everyone can see what we are working on.
“But this is a training game, nothing more, we didn’t get three points.
“We take this as a very happy training session and I am delighted it was a fair game, I hope Millwall got a lot out of it, we did.”
Uwe added: “In general I saw a lot of good signs offensively and defensively.
“The goals were very good.
“We played out from the back, sometimes maybe we overplayed in some areas.
“The new players settled in well, George Saville was very good.
“Overall, everyone gets a pat on the back from me.”
Brentford have signed six new players this summer – Will Grigg, Alan McCormack, Jack Bonham, George Saville, Javi Venta and Martin Fillo.
The Bees have also converted Jake Bidwell’s loan from Everton in to a permanent move.
Uwe said more business would be done before the start of the season.
“There will definitely be at least one player coming in, maybe two,” he said.
“It will depend on injuries.”
Brentford’s next pre-season game is against Scottish Premier League Champions Celtic on Saturday.
The game is set to be played in high temperatures against a side that reached the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League last season in front of the club’s highest pre-season crowd for a number of years.
“It will be a massive crowd and a great environment,” said Uwe.
“It will be hot and we will see how long we can play our pressing game against them.”
