Shaleum Logan said there was no reason why Brentford’s current winning run had to come to an end.
The Bees beat Port Vale 2-0 at Griffin Park yesterday to record their eighth straight Sky Bet League One win.
They have won 13 of the last 14 in the league and have moved to the top of the table.
Shaleum said Brentford Manager Mark Warburton wanted his team to win every game and the players did likewise.
He said Brentford had shown in their run they could beat the best in the league and take on different challenges and there was no reason why it couldn’t continue.
“The Manager wants to win every game and so do the players,” said the defender, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“We know there is a big reward for us at the end of the season, everyone wants to be in The Championship.
“Teams will be looking at us wondering when we will slip up.
“Why should we get beat?
“It will be a very, very good team that beats us.
“We are not arrogant, we are looking at the positives and we think we can win every game.
“We have beaten some of the best teams in the league.
“We have shown we can handle it all.
“We are on a run that no team in any league is matching.
“Everything we do in the week is about winning the game.
“We are taking them one at a time.”
Brentford started slowly against Port Vale but moved through the gears as the first half wore on.
They went ahead through Marcello Trotta and only an inspired performance by Vale goalkeeper Chris Neal prevented a rout.
Will Grigg eventually sealed the win with a second in the dying minutes.
Shaleum said he always felt Brentford would win but they needed a second goal.
“After the first 20 minutes we pushed on and kicked in to fourth gear,” he said.
“We pressed the ball, didn’t give them any time on it and showed our quality.
“They couldn’t live with us.
“The first goal was a great strike by Trotta.
“We got it and they probably went in at half time wondering how they were only one down.
“We were a bit disappointed that we didn’t score a few more goals in the first half.
“We got the second to kill them off in the second half.
“We weren’t nervous but when you are only 1-0 up any mistake, or something from a set piece, they can get back on level terms.
“We felt we would win the game.”
Shaleum started a game for the first time in nearly three months against Port Vale.
He said there was no doubt about his fitness and he felt he played well.
“It felt really good to be out there,” he said.
“My calves felt a bit tight after about 70 minutes but I have had that for a few weeks.
“My fitness is always there.
“I made one mistake towards the end but I am happy with my performance.
“I thought I defended well and got forward well.
“I love to get forward, the best form of defence is attack, if a team comes at us we will go back at them.
“Teams can’t live with our stamina.”
Shaleum had been a regular since joining The Bees in the summer of 2011 and has found himself on the substitute’s bench for a run of games for the first time over the past three months.
Alan McCormack came in at right back and Brentford won 12 of 13 League One games.
Shaleum admitted he wanted to be playing but said he was pleased The Bees were winning games.
Alan McCormack moved in to midfield to replace the injured Jonathan Douglas while other regular starters Harlee Dean and Adam Forshaw were also injured.
Shaleum said he was told he would probably play earlier in the week and wanted to take his chance.
“It has been difficult,” he said.
“I am happy the team has been winning, but I want to be playing.
“Alan McCormack has done well and the team has been winning.
“I have been waiting for my chance.
“I have come on in the last few games and shown what I can do.
“I am a bit rusty but I got going after around 15 minutes.
“I got told pretty early I would more than likely be starting but found out today for certain.
“I think I bring something to the team, I am happy we are keeping our run going.”
