Shaleum Logan admitted he was disappointed with Brentford’s 0-0 draw against Carlisle United.
The Bees were held at home on a hot Griffin Park afternoon despite dominating.
The Cumbrians came for a point and did not change their attacking intent, or lack thereof, even when Brentford were reduced to ten men when Tony Craig was sent off in the second half.
The Bees had the better chances and a goal controversially ruled out late on.
Shaleum said he felt Brentford worked hard enough to take the points and were disappointed not to get them.
“It was disappointing,” he said.
“Games like that will determine if we get enough points at the end of the season to go up automatically.
“We didn’t underestimate Carlisle.
“They will be over the moon to get a point and a clean sheet but we are disappointed.
“We think we worked hard enough.
“Some decisions didn’t go our way but overall disappointed.”
Shaleum, speaking to Bees Player after the match, said Brentford’s first half display was not good enough.
He said they played better after half time and did enough to win but it wasn’t to be.
“Second half was better but first half wasn’t good enough from everybody,” he said.
“Pressing, keeping the ball, range of passing.
“We were told at half time.
“We had more about us in the second half.
“I thought we did enough to win but sometimes it doesn’t happen.
“Even after the second off we didn’t feel threatened.
“They didn’t come to attack.”
Shaleum said he did not know why Brentford’s performance was below par but stressed The Bees had not underestimated their visitors, who came to Griffin Park with one point from their first four games.
He said he hoped it would not happen often.
“I don’t know why it didn’t happen in the first half,” he said.
“We didn’t underestimate Carlisle.
“We wanted to win and feel we can beat anyone at home.
“It wasn’t to be today and hopefully there aren’t many more like that.
“The second half was a big improvement.
“The only way Carlisle would score was a set piece.”
Referee David Phillips booked six players and sent off Tony Craig, he also awarded more than 30 free kicks.
He disallowed a late Brentford goal for a non-existent push on goalkeeper Mark Gillespie which Shaleum said should have stood.
The defender said the stop-start nature of the game did not help The Bees but the side could take positives from keeping a second consecutive Sky Bet League One clean sheet.
“The number of fouls definitely affected the game,” he said.
“I also think there wasn’t a foul on the keeper when the goal was disallowed.
“You can’t blame referees or anything else that happened.
“I felt we had enough to win the game in the 90 minutes.
“But we didn’t lose and we will take the positives out of that.
“Defensively we look strong.
“We have the potential to keep clean sheets.
“I am happy with one today but I would rather win 3-1 or 4-1.”
