Paris Maghoma netted his sixth goal of the season to help Bolton Wanderers past Cambridge United last Tuesday night.
The midfielder was in the right place to convert his third goal in six appearances from close range to make it 1-1 on 52 minutes. Wanderers’ victory was confirmed midway through the second half thanks to Carlos Mendes Gomes’ deft finish.
Maghoma then played the final 20 minutes on Saturday as 10-man Bolton were beaten 4-1 by Blackpool.
Those two results leave the Trotters in third, level on points with Derby County, ahead of tonight’s visit to Wigan Athletic and Saturday’s home game against Cambridge.
Portsmouth and Myles Peart-Harris are still who everybody is trying to catch following their goalless draw at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
Peart-Harris, who was introduced off the bench with 17 minutes to play, could have won it late on but was denied by a superb sliding challenge from Macaulay Gillesphey.
The point stretched Pompey’s lead at the top to seven points with a visit from Oxford United next on Saturday.

That win lifted United to fifth ahead of Saturday’s visit from Exeter City.
The side Peterborough leapfrogged were Fin Stevens’ Oxford United after they took one point from their two games last week.
Stevens missed the midweek draw at home to Northampton Town but did return to the matchday squad following injury for Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Leyton Orient.
He will hope to be back in action on Saturday when the U’s head to Fratton Park.
Charlie Goode wasn’t in the squad for Wigan Athletic as they drew 1-1 at home to Cheltenham on Friday night.
The point leaves the Latics in 13th before this week’s games at Bolton and at home to Fleetwood.
