Mark Smith was not in the Hitchin Town squad as they continued their fine start to the season with a 2-0 win away at Arlesey Town on Bank Holiday Monday.
Goals from Lewis Rolfe and Matt Lench, inside the opening eight minutes, were enough to secure Town's fourth win in six games this season to leave them fifth in the Southern Premier League table.
Mark has made three appearances so far for the Hertfordshire team keeping one clean sheet.
Town's next game is at home to mid-table Cirencester Town on Saturday.
