Mark Smith was unable to prevent Hampton & Richmond Borough falling to defeat against Peacehaven and Telscombe at The Beveree on Tuesday night.
Borough, who had only lost one of their previous five games, were never at the races and fell behind after just 12 minutes.
Things got worse for the hosts as Peacehaven made it 2-0 on the hour and, although The Beavers threatened a comeback as Ben Harris scored with 20 minutes to, the visitors wrapped things up six minutes later.
The result leaves Hampton 15th in the Ryman Premier Divison ahead of Saturday's game away at struggling Witham Town.
Manny Oyeleke was an unused substitute as Aldershot lost for the third time in four matches following a 1-0 reversal against high-flying Macclesfield Town.
The visitors scored the only goal of the game on 56 minutes through Danny Whitaker to continue their fine run of form which has seen the Moss Rose club lose only once in 12.
For Aldershot they are now 16th, seven points above the drop zone, ahead of Saturday's FA Trophy match at home to Burgess Hill Town.
