Mark Smith's third spell at Hampton and Richmond Borough got off to the perfect start as he kept a clean sheet in their 5-0 victory over Needham Market on Saturday. Nicke Kabamba and Moussa Diarra put The Beavers 2-0 ahead inside nine minutes and the game was all-but over after 25 minutes as Kieran Murphy headed home a third. Tom Beere netted a fourth before the break and Jamal Lowe completed the scoring on the hour with a close range finish. The win moved Borough level on points with league leaders East Thurrock United but with a game in hand on the Essex side.
In La Liga Jota played the 90 minutes as Eibar fell to a 3-2 defeat against Celta Vigo on Saturday. Celta led 2-0 at the break thanks to John Guidetti and Jonny and the points looked to be safe with 20 minutes to play as former Manchester City striker Guidetti added his second. However Saúl Berjón smashed home a penalty for Jota's Eibar side with six minutes to play and Takashi Inui made it 3-2 three minutes later. Despite the late comeback Celta held on to the win to move above Eibar in the table and into sixth place.
In the National League James Ferry was unable to halt Welling United's slide down the table as they lost 2-0 at home to Wrexham on Saturday. The Wings are now seven points from safety after Lee Fowler's close range finish and Connor Jennings first-half penalty wrapped up the points for the Welsh side. James has started all four matches during his loan spell with Welling.
Audrius Laucys was an unused substitute as Hemel Hempstead Town rescued a point in injury time thanks to a 90 yard goal from their goalkeeper Jamie Butler. The Stags found themselves 2-0 down at home to Sutton United just after the break but Michael Richens pulled one back late on before Butler's long punt forward evaded everyone and found the back of the net. The comeback leaves Hemel tenth in the National League South table, eight points outside the Play-Off places.
Daniel O'Shaughnessy was not involved as FC Midtjylland beat Manchester United 2-1 in the First Leg of their Europa Cup last 32 tie on Thursday night. Memphis Depay put United in front in the first-half but Pione Sisto and Paul Onuachu netted to ensure The Danes head to Old Trafford this Thursday with the advantage.
