Jota made his first start for SD Eibar as they were beaten 3-1 away at Atletico Madrid in La Liga on Saturday. The Basque side took the lead through Jose Agustin Mauri a minute into the second-half at the Vincente Calderon Stadium but the home side hit back thanks to two goals in seven minutes midway through the half. Firstly Jose Maria Giminez headed home a Koke cross and then another Koke delivery was converted by Saul Niguez. Fernando Torres completed the scoring in injury time as Eibar slipped to ninth in the table.
James Ferry also played 90 minutes as Welling United drew 1-1 with Altrincham in a National League relegation battle on Saturday. Sahr Kabba rescued a point for Welling in the final minute after Michael Rankine had put Altrincham ahead on the hour. It was James' third start for The Wings since joining last month as they closed to four points from safety ahead of a tough trip to league leaders Cheltenham Town on Saturday.
Mark Smith and Audrius Laucys were frustrated by the weather as Lowestoft Town's trip to Harrogate Town and Hemel Hempstead Town's home match against Chelmsford City were both postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
Elsewhere Daniel O'Shaughnessy is with the FC Midtjylland squad on their pre-season training camp in Dubai. The defender played 90 minutes for the Danish Champions on Thursday as they drew 2-2 in a friendly against IFK Gothenburg. Mikael Anderson and Jakob Poulsen putting FCM ahead at the break before a late Mads Albaek double sent the game to penalty shootout which IFK won 8-7.
