Josh Laurent made his first start for Newport County but he was unable to prevent them slipping out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at the Southern Section First Round stage.
The 20-year-old signed for Terry Butcher's side last month on a 28-day loan and made his first start for The Exiles on Tuesday night as they hosted Swindon Town in the JPT First Round.
Anton Rodgers put Swindon into the lead early only for Aaron Collins to equalise in the second-half moments before Josh was withdrawn with 15 minutes to play.
Neither side could find a winner in 90 minutes and, after 12 sucessful penalties, it was Collins who failed from the spot to hand Swindon a path through to the Second Round.
Josh has made three appearances since joining County on loan, featuring as a substitute in their Sky Bet League Two defeats to Leyton Orient and Plymouth Argyle.
Next up for Newport is a home game on Saturday against York City at Rodney Parade.
