Jota played the final 30 minutes as SD Eibar were beaten 2-1 at home by Malaga in La Liga on Saturday evening. All three goals came in injury time with Juanpi putting Malaga ahead seconds before the interval with a neat close range finish. It looked for a long time like that would be the decisive goal but Roque Santa-Cruz added a second in added time. Borja Baston set up a tense finish by firing home three minutes later but Malaga held on for the three points as Eibar drop to eighth in the table.
James Ferry played 90 minute on his debut for Welling United in a 1-1 draw away at Halifax Town. The Development Squad captain joined The Wings on Friday and went straight into the squad for their trip to The Shay on Saturday. After a goalless first-half Kingsley James put Halifax ahead ten minutes after the break but Kadell Daniel levelled with ten minutes to play. The point ended a run of four straight defeat but still leaves Welling five points from safety.
Mark Smith couldn’t prevent Lowestoft Town falling to a third straight league defeat after they were beaten 2-0 at home by Stalybridge Celtic. Chris Simm and Jack Higgins scored the goals in the first-half for Celtic with Lowestoft remaining just a point and a place outside the relegation zone.
Elsewhere Jermaine Udumaga was not in the 18 as Wycombe Wanderers got their Play-Off push back on track with a 1-0 win away at Plymouth Argyle. Gozie Ugwu scored the only goal after three minutes but the game was most remarkable for seeing 46-year-old goalkeeper Barry Richardson come on for his first appearance in ten years and keep a clean sheet.
