Liam O’Brien said signing a new two-month contract at Brentford gave him another chance to prove himself.
The goalkeeper joined The Bees in August on a three-month deal after a successful trial.
He left Barnet at the end of last season when the North London club were relegated from the Football League.
Earlier this week he signed a new two-month extension that will keep him at Griffin Park until mid-January.
Liam, who turns 22 at the end of the month, has yet to make a First Team appearance for Brentford but has been an unused substitute on seven occasions.
He has played one game for Brentford’s Development Squad in the Under-21 Professional Development League.
He said he had loved every minute of being at Brentford so far and working with Goalkeeper Coach Simon Royce and fellow stoppers Jack Bonham, David Button and Richard Lee.
Liam said getting a First Team spot was his next challenge.
“I am really happy,” said Liam, speaking to Bees Player.
“I get another chance to be here for a longer period.
“It is nice to be here and have a bit more security.
“I have loved every minute of my time here so far.
“I get on with everyone.
“I haven’t had my chance yet but I hope that will come.
“All the goalkeepers get on well.
“We are all great mates.
“I have to prove myself.
“The deal keeps me on my toes and is a challenge for me.”
Liam said he knew it would be hard to get a First Team spot but it was a quest he relished.
“It has been nice to get some game time at Under-21 level,” he said.
“I can say I have played for Brentford.
“The next step is First Team football.
“That is where I hope I am heading and I will do everything I can to get a chance.
“All the goalkeepers are brilliant.
“It will be hard but it is a challenge I am looking forward to.
“There are a lot of games coming up and, while I hope there isn’t, there may be injuries.
“That is where my chance could come.
“Hopefully I will do well.”
Liam has been in and around the First Team squad as Brentford have won five in a row in all competitions.
He said Brentford was a club going places and he wanted to be a part of it.
“Everyone is really positive,” said Liam.
“Hopefully we have our little mistakes out of the way now.
“Everyone can see our performances have picked up.
“We want to maintain that and push on to the end of the season.
“Brentford is really professional.
“It is a great club to be part of, this club is going places.
“I will do everything I can and hopefully there will be something else for me.”
