Lewis Macleod said he was sold on a move to Brentford after he saw the way his new side have been playing in the Sky Bet Championship this season.
The 20-year-old signed a three-and-a-half year deal on Wednesday to move south of the border from Glasgow Rangers to West London.
Lewis joins a club that sits sixth in the Sky Bet Championship and said he has been very impressed with the way The Bees have been playing in the second tier this season.
Speaking to Bees Player after completing the move Lewis said: “I am delighted to complete the move and I am really looking forward to it.
“It is going to be an exciting period of time for me.
“I can’t wait to get started.
“I heard that Brentford were interested about six or so months ago.
“Ever since then I have been watching the games and following the teams a bit.
“The team play nice football and having met with Frank McParland, David Weir and the manager, Mark Warburton, it seems like a good place to be.
“After all that I decided this was the best place for me to come.
“It was definitely the style of football that persuaded me to come here.
“I like the way they play football here having watched the games.
“That suits me and in that sense I was looking forward to coming.
“Everything about the place seems good and I am looking forward to it.
“It is a young squad and everybody is eager.
“They all want the same thing which is to win football games and hopefully that can stay the same when I come in.
“Sky Bet Championship football is going to be a lot different to what I am used to.
“I need to come to terms with it as quick as I can.
“I am just looking forward to getting down.”
Lewis was born just outside Glasgow and joined the Ibrox club as a ten year old back in 2004.
Having progressed through the ranks, the midfielder made his first-team debut in a Scottish Cup match in July 2012 before making his league debut two weeks later.
In total Lewis made 69 appearances for Rangers scoring 16 goals.
This season Lewis has been an almost ever present for the Scottish Championship side scoring eight goals in 21 appearances.
Lewis admits it was a difficult decision to leave Rangers but said he is looking forward to getting started at Griffin Park and trying to force his way into The Bees starting XI.
“It was very hard to leave but at the same time these things happen and I just have to look forward now,” said Lewis.
“I am hoping to come in and do well.
“The team is doing well at the moment so I hope I can come in and add to that.
“If I can come in and play that would be brilliant but, if not, I need to keep working hard.
“I will work hard and I am looking forward to it.
“I said at the start of the year that I wanted to bring goals to my game and I have certainly done that.
“Hopefully coming down I can add more to that.
“The best thing for the team is competition for places.
“It drives each and every player on to do better so in that sense it is good for me to come down, work hard and try and get in the team.”
Lewis had represented Scotland at age-group level from Under-16 to Under-21 and started all their games in the 2009 Victory Shield.
November saw him receive his first call-up to the full national squad under Gordon Strachan for the Euro 2016 Qualifier against the Republic of Ireland and the friendly against England.
Lewis is keen to force his way into Gordon Strachan’s Scotland plans moving forward and hopes his performances with The Bees can be used as a springboard to achieve that goal.
“Hopefully now that I am here I can play more games and get seen,” said Lewis.
“I want to be involved in a lot more national squads and it is my aim to do so.
“I am buzzing and looking forward to getting started.
“Hopefully I can get down as soon as possible and see how it goes.”
