Liam Moore said Brentford was a “great club to be at” and he was looking forward to his loan spell in West London.
Defender Liam joined The Bees on loan from Leicester City yesterday, Thursday February 26, signing a deal to stay at Griffin Park until the end of the season.
It is Liam’s second loan at Brentford; he spent around two months with The Bees in early 2013, playing seven games.
Since then he has helped Leicester to promotion to the Premier League and featured regularly during their current top flight campaign.
He has also established himself as an England Under-21 regular.
Liam said he had other options for a loan move but Brentford was his choice.
“I am happy to be here,” said the defender, talking to Bees Player yesterday.
“I have not had many games recently and there were a few Championship teams interested in signing me on loan.
“Brentford was an easy decision for me.
“I have been here before; I know about 70 per cent of the lads.
“It is a great club to be at.
“The buzz is high and I am looking forward to my time here.”
Liam said his relationship with Brentford Manager Mark Warburton was a key factor in his decision to come to Griffin Park.
He said he knew Mark’s son Jack and had worked with him in the past.
“The manager influenced my decision to come here,” said Liam.
“I have known Mark a while.
“The lads here are good; I enjoyed my time here two years ago.
“Hopefully I can carry it on again.
“Mark’s son Jack played in the same Youth Team as me at Leicester and he came in to do a few training sessions.
“I know his training is good, they are high intensity and I am looking forward to doing it.
“I hope I can progress as a player as well.
“I have kept an eye on Brentford since I left.
“They play the football I want to play and it is a club that is going places.”
Liam said he was not surprised to see Brentford challenging at the top of the Sky Bet Championship.
The Bees are seventh with 13 games of the season remaining and are only two points off third.
Liam was at Brentford during the 2012/13 season when The Bees lost in the League One Play-Off Final.
They won promotion last season and are now pushing for another.
Liam helped Leicester to promotion last season and said he hoped he could bring the experience of doing so to Brentford.
“Anyone that has been involved at Brentford will not be surprised at what has happened,” he said.
“Brentford play an attractive football but with solid players who know what it takes to be a winner.
“There was disappointment in the Play-Offs a couple of years ago but since then it has been a real forward train and I think it will continue to be like that.
“The run-in can be exciting but also nervous.
“It will be a test of character for the last couple of months.
“Hopefully I can bring a bit of experience having done it last year.
“If the lads stick together and play the football they do they will do well.”
Liam said his first task was to win a place in the team.
He will be competing with Tony Craig, Harlee Dean and James Tarkowski for a central defensive spot.
“I am coming here with a clean slate and will have to earn my position,” said Liam.
“The other defenders are all good players.
“It will not be an easy task to get a place but I will work hard to do so.”
