Development Squad Manager Lee Carsley reflected on the result at Cardiff City that gave his side their first away league win of the season.
“It was another good performance,” said Lee.
“I thought the lads were excellent first half; we controlled the game, looked a real threat and had a lot of pace going forward with Courtney and Josh both sides.
Lee praised the trio of First Team outfield players that travelled to Cardiff.
“The senior players –Alan McCormack, Nick [Proschwitz] and Marcos were excellent,” said Lee.
“It’s always a worry when First Team players come in; we were on a bus for four hours, so it’s not the kind of preparation that they are used to, but their attitudes were fantastic and it makes such a big difference.”
Jack Bonham ensured the side travelled back down the M4 with all three points with a string of vital saves in the second half.
“I think that’s Jack’s fourth or fifth game I’ve seen him in now and he really is a good prospect considering his age,” said Lee.
“You can see confidence is sky high at the minute, he’s fantastic with his feet and uses the ball really well and was very good today.”
Lee felt that he felt the future was bright as the Scholars that came in were doing a good job, adding “we’ve got a lot of exciting young players in the squad, and in the club, and it’s important that we can get them through.”
