Brentford Development Squad Manager Lee Carsley said the match against Hampton and Richmond Borough last night was a useful training session for his players.
The Bees used 22 players in the win, fielding different XIs in each half.
The first half side were 2-0 up the break with Jan Holldack and Aaron Greene getting the goals.
Hampton came back in to it after the break but The Bees did enough to get the win.
Lee, who managed the side last night, said his players had trained in the morning and the key was not to put too much on his group.
“It was a training session for us,” he said.
“We trained hard an hour and half this morning, which was an intensive session.
“This match was about getting the lads 45 minutes and getting fitness in to them.
“It is early for a pre-season game, we have to manage the players and not overload them.”
Lee said the key thing was to get minutes under the belt of his players.
“The first half, in terms of performance, was comfortable, second half was closer but the team was younger,” he explained.
“We controlled the game better in the second half without the goal scoring threat.
“I am really pleased with all the lads.
“They have got more match minutes and that is good for them.”
