Head Coach Lee Carsley gave his reaction to the 2-0 defeat to Hull City. Brentford matched The Tigers for an hour, but goals from Andrew Robertson and Sam Clucus gave them all three points.
“I thought first half we were good,” said Lee. “We had some chances; we had a really good chance early on where against a team of Hull’s quality, we have to take. I didn’t think we were up to much second half to be honest. As the game went on, Hull all got stronger and stronger with the fire power that they’ve got in the team. We were second best, second half but I can’t fault the lads effort and their energy to keep in there, but the power of Hull won in the end.”
Lasse Vibe went to ground in the penalty area, with Carsley thinking a spot kick should have been awarded.
“I thought it was [a penalty] from the bench,” said Lee. “He’s pulled Lasse’s shirt and he’s gone down. I thought it was at the time but you get these decisions; I don’t want to be one of those coaches that’s moaning about referees – Hull were worthy winners tonight.
“When you play against a team of Hull’s quality, when you get a chance, you need to score; they’ve been a little bit more clinical with their finishing.”
