The chance to secure a ticket to see Brentford take on the current UEFA Champions League and FA Cup holders meant a late night at Griffin Park last night.
The Bees will take on Chelsea in an FA Cup with Budweiser Fourth Round tie on Sunday January 27.
Brentford booked their chance to take on their West London neighbours with a 2-1 win over Southend United in a Third Round Replay.
Clayton Donaldson scored the winning goal, his 18th of the season, after Southend had levelled Paul Hayes’ opener against the run of play.
Tickets for the Chelsea match, which will kick off at 12noon, went on sale to Season Ticket Holders immediately after The Bees beat Southend and hundreds of supporters queued to ensure they had their place at the Fourth Round tie.
Ticket Office staff worked in to the early hours to serve supporters and the final fan left Griffin Park well after midnight.
Head Groundsman Nick Baldwin and his team were also working in to the early hours, covering the Griffin Park pitch.
With temperatures dropping throughout the evening, Nick wanted to put frost covers back on the pitch to give the Club the best chance to hosting the three upcoming home games – Tranmere Rovers and Leyton Orient visit for npower League One fixtures on Saturday, January 19, and Tuesday, January 22, before Chelsea come to town.
Supporters stayed late after the game to give the ground staff a hand and make the job quicker.
