Lasse Vibe thought it was a good all-round team performance as Brentford swept aside Huddersfield Town at Griffin Park to move within two points of the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off positions.
Sergi Canos put The Bees ahead inside five minutes before Lasse netted his seventh goal of the season, connecting with James Tarkowski’s lofted pass. Alan Judge made it three before the break and added a fourth from the spot, after Joe Lolley had pulled one back for Huddersfield. Kyle Dempsey netted a late consolation for the visitors but The Bees left with what Lasse thought was a thoroughly deserved three points.
“We were really happy with the three points,” said Lasse. “All over the pitch today we stopped them from playing. They are a team who like to keep the ball and we did really well with our gameplan. Everyone was on to them from the first minute and what we talked about during the week in terms of analysis was completely right. We were effective when we got chances. We scored three goals and I can’t remember us having that many chances before them. Our gameplan against Milton Keynes Dons came together and worked really well but we missed a few opportunities to be 3-0 up in that game. You want to take your chances and put yourself in a comfortable position.”
Lasse was involved in the move for Brentford’s first goal, scored The Bees second and was fouled for the free-kick that led to Alan Judge’s third goal. The Danish international said it felt really good to be at the heart of The Bees attacking efforts today and hopes he can carry that form into the busy Christmas period.
“I felt very involved in everything today,” said Lasse. “I got some great balls from my teammates and a great ball from James Tarkowski for the goal. I had a lot of opportunities to show my best today and we worked really well together. I have done it a few times in my career before that when we have a lot of games in one week I have scored a lot of goals. When you get in that zone and are scoring goals you want the games to be coming fast. I have got a lot of confidence at the moment and teammates who believe in me. Hopefully Christmas is going to be a good period for the team and I can contribute with some goals as well.”
Brentford made three changes for today’s match with Konstantin Kerschbaumer and Nico Yennaris, both of whom have impressed in recent weeks, missing out on the matchday squad entirely. Lasse thinks that having players of that ability not even in the matchday 18 shows the strength that Brentford have at their disposal now.
“We have a big number of players who have a lot of quality,” said Lasse. “Everyone is in great shape, we have got quality players coming back and a lot of fresh people. We have got some quality players out of the squad not playing today and that shows the competition we have. That is how it should be and hopefully we can try and use that during the festive period to come out with a lot of points.”
