Club Captain Kevin O’Connor praised the Brentford supporters for the reception he received when he came on in the draw at Milton Keynes Dons.
Kevin made his 498th Brentford appearance in the 2-2 draw in Buckinghamshire on Easter Monday.
He came on with 25 minutes to go to an “amazing” ovation from more than 3,300 travelling Brentford supporters.
With two games of the 2013/14 season remaining, Kevin can become only the third player in Brentford history to reach 500 appearances for the Club.
“The reception was amazing,” said Kevin, speaking to Bees Player: Match Day Live.
“It is very, very nice.
“The fans are great to me.
“Hopefully I can get the last two in and everyone is happy.
“It would be lovely for it to happen but if it happens, it happens.”
Brentford let a two goal lead slip to draw the game.
The Bees scored late in the first half, through James Tarkowski, and then in the second period when Clayton Donaldson slotted home.
MK appeared to be out of the game when they were awarded a penalty.
Kevin questioned the decision of referee Tim Robinson to award a spot kick after a coming together between David Button and Izale McLeod but admitted there may have been a foul earlier in the move.
The home side then equalised in the dying seconds.
“I think we were comfortable at 2-0.
“They got the penalty, which was debatable, and one at the end, which we are disappointed with.
“Overall, it was a good performance and the last ten minutes let us down.
“I thought initially he was fouled, on the turn, but he stayed on his feet and David took the ball.
“Although he may have got the man as well, I’m not sure if you can do that.
“The referee booked David.
“I’m not sure the referee knew what he was doing, he awarded the penalty.
“Luckily he didn’t send him off, although maybe that would have been my chance to play in goal.”
Kevin said it was not difficult to get up for the game, despite it coming 72 hours after The Bees had clinched promotion.
He said The Bees were playing like the Championship they now were and wanted to win games for the fans that were travelling to watch them.
He said Brentford got sloppy at the end but would look to get back to winning ways away to Colchester United on Saturday.
“I think most of the season we have looked a Championship side, the quality has really gone up,” said Kevin.
“We come away to places like this and look like the home game.
“That is good for the future.
“It is not difficult to get up for these games.
“As soon as you come out to warm up you want to do it for the fans.
“We want to enjoy the last games but want to get the right results and finish on a high.
“We got sloppy at the end.
“We won’t dwell on it and have to move on.
“We will go to win at Colchester.”
Kevin said he did not think that winning promotion would sink in until he played at Championship grounds next season.
He said it was the best Brentford squad playing the best football in his time at Griffin Park, which was now around 15 years.
“I don’t think it will sink in until next year,” said Kevin.
“The gold line is so nice, being up with two games to go.
“Next year at these new stadiums, I haven’t been to many of them, that is when it will sink in.
“This is the best season to be involved in.
“There have been ups and downs but mainly ups.
“This is the best squad I have seen playing the best football I have seen.
“It has been brilliant.
“To secure it with three games to go sums it up.
“It is tremendous to see the Club going places.
“Everyone is full of smiles, the pressure is gone and we can enjoy the last games, play our football and get the right results.”
