After Brentford Women’s First Team beat Denham United in the LSE Regional WFL Division One North, Manager Karleigh Osborne was left extremely pleased with the performance his side displayed.
Four goals from Chloe Logie saw the Bees leave Bedfont Sports Club with all three points on Sunday afternoon, taking them to fifth in the league and leaving Osborne in high praise of his side.
The First Team Manager said: “I thought the fight and energy the girls showed was an example of how hard they work, after last weekend’s win they really pushed on to get this result which was good to see.
“I love how attacking-minded we were, you could see they wanted to get forward and really make their mark on the game playing some positive football. It's great as Manager to see this confidence from them.”
The Bees opened the scoring on 22 minutes when Chloe Webb played a wonderful ball through to Logie who smashed home from 10-yards out.
She followed this up with a wonder goal in the second half after her powerful strike from around 25-yards flew into the top corner.
On 72 minutes Logie sealed her hat-trick as she was first on scene to follow up a shot from Demi Edwards which was too powerful for the Denham keeper to hold, leaving the striker with a simple tap-in.
Speaking on Logie, Osborne said: “Where do I start with Chloe? She’s a brilliant player, it’s amazing the things she can do as a 17-year-old, and despite her age she leads from the front and shows great maturity in her play.
“I’m over the moon that we have her as our striker and I hope that she can continue to flourish under our coaching as we believe she can become an even better player.”
The Brentford number nine got her fourth on 80 minutes securing the win for the First Team and wrapping up a great day for herself.
Despite Brentford controlling the majority of the game, the away side showed the danger they possessed in attacking areas especially in the second half.
After the hosts made it 2-0, Denham quickly replied with a goal of their own through Jenny Nagle, and they came agonisingly close to equalising just moments later when Amie Hewitt smashed her free-kick against the bar.
Osborne continued: “Sometimes I think we can lose concentration which nearly cost us, we were quite dominant for large parts of the game, and I think this made the girls become complacent, so we must work on remaining focused throughout the 90 minutes.
“There are times where we need to go back to basics and take care of the small things like making sure our first touches are on point and not losing the ball in silly areas.”
After the defeat to Dulwich in their last league outing, it was vital for the team to get all three points on Sunday as they continue to push for promotion.
“We needed to get back to winning ways so the result is fantastic, I am hoping we can now take confidence from this result and exert it into climbing up the table.”
