Josh Bohui feels that adding goals and assists to his game will be the thing that helps to take him to the next level. The 17-year-old was speaking after setting up all three goals as Flemming Pedersen’s side drew 3-3 with Crewe Alexandra at Griffin Park. The first-year scholar has made 12 appearances for the Under-21s this season, scoring once, alongside 22 appearances for the Under-18s.
Speaking to Bees Player after the draw with Crewe, Josh said he feels that he is getting used to Development Squad and now wants to kick on again. “I am pleased with the three assists. It is not so easy coming up to the Under-21s and playing how I play. I think that I put a good performance in, not just attacking wise but defensively too. Before I was getting past my marker but wouldn’t have the end product. Now I am looking to add that end product. Even if it doesn’t reach the middle I need to try and get a cross in or try a shot. If I keep working on things, working on both my right foot and my left foot, then slowly it will get there.
“I have always wanted to be a part of the Under-21s and now that I am part of it I have an opportunity to keep pushing. I feel that I am progressing really well. Flemming is all about tactics and he helps me to see errors that I wouldn’t normally see or runs that I wouldn’t normally see in a game. He is working hard with all the group and especially with me.”
The Bees led 1-0 and 3-1 thanks to a brace from Jan Holldack, either side of Bradley Clayton’s seventh of the season. However The Railwaymen hit back with two late goals from set-pieces: the first when Toby Mullarkey headed home and the second when Oliver Finney’s volleyed past Charlie Albinson with ten minutes to play. Josh felt that, overall, it was a good performance but that sloppiness in the closing stages cost them the win.
“I think the boys played well but we got sloppy towards the end,” said Josh. “Crewe Alexandra took their chances at the end to equalise. We tried to do what we have been doing in training: playing it out wide with runners. Overall I thought it was a good performance. I wouldn’t say that we are happy as attackers. If we take all our chances and win the game then we are happy. We are pleased with scoring three goals but we always want more.”
