Jonathan Douglas said Brentford’s performance in their 2-0 win over Leeds United was “different class”.
The Bees beat Leeds 2-0 at Griffin Park yesterday afternoon.
Jota scored the opening goal in first half stoppage time, after James Tarkowski had earlier fired a penalty over the bar, and Alan McCormack made it two in the second period.
Jonathan said Brentford needed to respond after playing below their levels in defeat at Middlesbrough last week and had done just that.
“It was a good performance and we needed it after last week,” said the midfield player, named Man of the Match.
“We let ourselves down there and didn’t perform to the levels we can.
“Today we were back to it.
“It takes a few days to get over a result like that but by Tuesday we were back in it.
“The performance today was different class.”

Jonathan said Brentford had taken on a good side and once The Bees got on top they played really well.
Brentford created the chances to have won the game more comfortably and could have been ahead before Jota scored in first half stoppage time.
“Leeds are a good side and on a good run,” said Jonathan.
“It doesn’t matter about off field problems they have picked up a good number of points.
“It took us ten to 15 minutes to get the run of play.
“When we got on top we played really well and created a lot of chances.
“We could have scored more.
“With the quality we have we will create chances.
“I am not worried about them not going in, I’d be more worried if we weren’t creating them.
“A goal just before half time gave us confidence.
“Everything worked well; we gelled as a team today.”
Leeds pressed for an equaliser in the second half but Brentford held firm, attacked well on the break and got a second goal inside the final 15 minutes.
“They had a lot of the play but didn’t create too many chances,” said Jonathan.
“With the pace we have on the break we looked dangerous.
“We played really well and are delighted.
“We have a lot of pace in the team and gifted footballers.”
Jonathan played a role in that second goal, winning a free kick and playing it quickly to McCormack.
The right back burst forward and with Moses Odubajo making a run outside, fired in a shot that took a slight deflection and ended up in the back of the net.
Jonathan said that was a plan The Bees had worked on.
“I saw a two v one on the right,” he said.
“I wanted to let them break.
“Moses was there with his pace but Alan decided to go on his own and he scored.
“We are delighted.
“We could have scored more and we have to take our chances but we can’t grumble with a 2-0 win.
“We knew Leeds like to set up, we thought we could catch them with quick free kicks and corners, that was one occasion we did.”
