John Swift and his teammates want to show the watching public what they are about as they take on Brighton and Hove Albion at The AMEX Stadium live on Sky Sports on Friday night. The match is a clash between two of the top ten and John sees real belief in the group that The Bees can get the three points to close in on the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off places.
Speaking to Bees Player ahead of the match John said: “Brighton are doing well even though they have had a little slip at the moment. After the match at Griffin Park we know we can definitely win the game. The stats were all our way and we were just unlucky in the final third. They are up there and doing really well so it will be another tough game but we can definitely win. The game is on Television so everyone wants to show what they can do.”
The Bees are currently eight points outside the top six with 17 league matches still to play. Dean Smith’s side have taken four points from their last two matches, a 3-1 win away at Preston North End followed by a 1-1 draw at home to Leeds United. Despite the gap to the Play-Off places John remains confident that The Bees can be involved in the end of season shake-up.
“We can still make the Play-Offs if we can keep doing what we are doing here and then just take that into the game,” said John. “We are getting better every game and some players are still getting used to their positions. When we are all settled and doing everything at the training ground, and taking that out onto the pitch, we will get the three points.”
John has netted four goals in 20 appearances for Brentford, including a fine long-range effort in The Bees televised match against Bolton Wanderers in November, since joining on loan from Chelsea in October and said that he is working hard to add to that tally.
“Everyone in the midfield wants to score,” said John. “We are all trying to score but we are just being unlucky at the moment. Lasse Vibe is doing his thing up front but the wide players and the midfielders all want to chip in. We can’t just leave it down to the strikers. We do a lot of work in training on one-touch finishing in and around the box so hopefully that is going to come off in the game soon.”
