John Swift, currently on loan from Chelsea, was honest in his appraisal of the defeat at Hull City on Tuesday night, his first after recovering from injury playing for England Under-21 s last month.
“I thought I was a bit off the boil,” said John. “First half I think everyone was off it to be fair; me personally I was trying to get on the ball in the ten role. I got on it quite a few times and just lacked the final pass.”
John wasn’t fazed by a Hull City side who were physical throughout, explaining that it was a feature of second tier football.
“You expect that in the Championship,” said John. “Every team is a big team; that’s not really a problem for us as a team, I think we’re used to that.”
John spoke of his time spent injured, which put him out for a month on the sidelines.
“Coming off after 20 minutes for the [Under]-21s was very frustrating for me,” said John. “To do literally nothing for three weeks was frustrating as well but since I’ve been out the boys have done really well. We couldn’t bring the performances from the last couple of games into this game.”
“It’s massive for us and the Brentford fans,” said John. “It’s the last home game as well. We’ll all go out there and give 100 per cent for the fans.”
