John Swift has been called up to the England Under-21 squad their Euro 2017 qualifier against Switzerland later this month. The Young Lions will take on the Alpine nation in Thun on Saturday 26th March, kick-off 7pm local time.
Gareth Southgate’s side are top of Group Nine of qualifying for the tournament which will be held in Poland in 2017. The Young Lions have taken ten points from their opening four matches in qualifying after a 3-1 win over The Swiss at The Amex Stadium before Christmas. The winners of the nine groups will automatically qualify for the tournament, with the best four second-placed sides going into a play-off to decide the other two participants in Poland.
John, who is on loan at Griffin Park from Premier League side Chelsea until the end of the season, has been capped at every level between Under-16 and Under-20 by England and made his Under-21s debut in the 3-1 win over this month's opponents last November. The Portsmouth born midfielder has scored six goals in 26 appearances for The Bees this season since joining in October.
