James Tarkowski gave his reaction to the 0-0 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion at Griffin Park.
“It was a good performance, which is what we always look at really,” said James. “Usually with a good performance, results will come; not the win today but we played well so we can be pretty pleased so we can take away the point and the positives.”
The result chalked up Brentford’s fifth clean sheet of the league campaign so far.
“We haven’t had the too many times recently,” said James. We’ve feel we’ve played aright but not got the clean sheet so to get one against a team like Brighton is a good positive to take away.
“We pretty much limited them to zero chances today, and with some of the players they’ve got in the team it’s good to see.”
The 23-year-old had the best chance of the game but David Stockdale in The Seagulls goal pulled off a magnificent save to deny him a likely winning goal.
“I thought I’d scored to be honest,” said James. “I looked to see where his positioning was and he seemed to be quite far over but it was a great save from the goalkeeper and we had one or two other chances and maybe could have scored.”
James gave his thoughts on the first half of the season, as the result leaves 23 league games played with the same number to follow until May next year.
“We’re back in the thick of it,” said James. “Like most people we were disappointed with the start of the season, results didn’t go our way [with a] lot of changeround in fortunes. Lee Carsley got us playing really good football and winning football and now the gaffer’s come in and we’ve kicked on from there.
