James Tarkowski said the remarkable run of clean sheets since he arrived at Brentford is a team effort.
The central defender, who joined from Oldham Athletic in January, has played eight games for Brentford.
The Bees have not conceded a goal while he has been on the pitch in those matches, keeping seven clean sheets – Notts County scored once he had been taken off on Saturday.
The latest clean sheet came in a 1-0 win over Crawley Town on Tuesday.
After the game, James spoke to Bees Player: Match Day Live.
“It is a team effort,” he said.
“I was fortunate that we didn’t concede when I got sent off at Leyton Orient and that I was off when we conceded on Saturday.
“It is down to the team defending well.
“I am happy to keep the clean sheets.”
Crawley offered very little going forward in the win on Tuesday.
James said The Bees restricted their attacking threat.
“We are always involved, whether we are going forward or defending,” said the defender.
“They caused us more problems in the second half but we restricted them to one or two shots.
“David Button didn’t have anything tough to deal with.
“We are happy with clean sheets, that is what it is all about.”
Brentford won the game with a second half goal from Jonathan Douglas.
They dominated almost exclusively but had to wait until just before the hour mark for the goal.
Crawley sat deep for much of the game, pressing high at times but doing little attacking.
The goal came from a header that Crawley goalkeeper Paul Jones should have kept out.
James said it was a very important win.
“When teams come and play in that way it can be frustrating but we need to learn to be patient,” he said.
“We must keep working the ball well; we did that tonight, got the chance and will take the goal.
“The keeper misjudged it but we got in the box and on to a cross, that is what we work on.
“The gaffer reminds us to be patient.
“We still tried to play out from the back late on.
“It was a bit frantic late on; we knew it was a massive three points for us.
“We got the win, that is what it is all about.”
Brentford remain second in Sky Bet League One after the win.
They are nine points ahead of Rotherham United, who are third, after they were beaten by Sheffield United on Tuesday.
The Bees are also only three behind leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers with five games to go.
James said he was targeting five wins and was keen to stress nothing was decided yet.
“Wolves have to play Rotherham,” he said.
“All we can do is keep pushing.
“I think if we get 15 points we will win the league.
“Results have gone our way but we have a job to do.
“We need more points before we get promotion.”
