Jake Bidwell said Brentford’s performance in their Sky Bet League One draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers showed they could beat anyone.
The Bees drew 0-0 at Molineux Stadium on Saturday afternoon and came closest to winning the game.
Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme made fine saves from Toumani Diagouraga and Alan McCormack and Adam Forshaw and Clayton Donaldson also missed good chances while Will Grigg fired inches wide.
Leigh Griffiths hit the post for the home side but David Button made fewer saves over the course of 90 minutes.
Jake said Brentford went to Molineux to win and it was no surprise that they looked the better team in the later stages.
“Building up to the game we set our sights on winning it,” said Jake, speaking to Bees Player: Match Day Live after the match.
“We think we are more than capable of doing that.
“We think we can beat anybody and I think we showed that today.
“We gave as good as we got and probably had the better of the chances.
“It is a difficult place to come but we got a clean sheet and another point.
“Some people may be surprised at how we played and that we looked more like winning it at the end.
“But we know as a group how fit we are.
“The longer we stay in the game the more I fancy us.
“We are probably the fittest team in the league.
“If we stay in the game we have a better chance of winning the game.”
Jake said playing at Molineux was no different to any other match and was a stage Brentford had to get used to.
He said it was now important to put it behind them and concentrate on winning promotion.
“It didn’t feel different to another game,” said Jake.
“The roar when you come out of the tunnel is a bit louder but when the game gets going you focus on that.
“Everyone in that dressing room wants to play in The Championship.
“If we do that we have to get used to coming to places like this.
“We have come here and matched them, if not bettered them.
“That shows where we are.
“It is a good point but we have to move on.”
Brentford’s next match is against Peterborough United at Griffin Park tomorrow.
Peterborough are third in League One with Brentford fourth.
“We go in to every game thinking we can win,” said Jake.
“Tuesday will be no different.
“The league is starting to take shape.
“We would have liked to have a few more points but the longer we keep this run going the better chance we have of being where we want to be.”
