Defender Jake Bidwell reflected on Brentford’s performance against Birmingham City, which saw them lose 1-0 at St Andrews to a first half James Tarkowski own goal.
“I don’t think we did enough to win the game,” said Jake.
“It’s probably only the second or third time we can say that this season.
“We weren’t at our best; I don’t think we deserved to lose the game, but we know we can do better than that.
“Thankfully we’ve got a game Tuesday to turn it around quickly and put it right.”
Jake, normally a first pick on the team sheet, was selected as substitute after being available again following his suspension for incurring a red card against Watford, Stuart Dallas preferred at left back.
“First of all you have to accept it,” said Jake.
“Stuey [Dallas] has come in the last two games and done well.
“A few of the other lads have got suspended - Tony Craig and James Tarkowski – and they had to wait for their chance to get back in the team, but that’s nothing I didn’t know already.
“We’ve got a strong squad, I’ve just got to bide my time and see what comes Tuesday.
“No one likes to sit on the bench but you have to respect the manager’s decision.
Jake’s second half substitute appearance was his 150th game for Brentford in league and cup since he first arrived from Everton on loan in December 2011, whilst still only 21.
“It’s a nice milestone to hit,” said Jake.
“Most of those 150 games have been unbelievable, the club’s been on the up; today’s a bit of a dampener, but it’s coming up to four years now and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”
