Tyrell Miller-Rodney said he believed Brentford stood up to the test in their Middlesex Charity Cup, which supports the charity Help for Heroes, Semi-Final win over Hanworth Villa.
The Bees have entered a Development Squad side in the competition and reached the final with a 3-0 win over the Combined Counties Premier Division side.
Myles Hippolyte put Brentford in front early on before Lewis Lavender and Luke Norris added second half goals to seal the win.
Tyrell, speaking to Bees Player after the win, said Brentford do not come up against older, more physical sides very often but did well and showed their quality with their goals.
“The pitch wasn’t great,” said the central midfield player.
“The team we played against was direct and physical and we don’t come up against that sort of team very often.
“It was a good test and we stood up to it.
“I think we did very well.
“I like getting down and dirty and getting in players’ faces.
“These sorts of games suit my style but I can get on the ball and play as well.
“We had to win our tackles, win the second balls, get there first.
“We did that.
“We showed our quality with the goals we scored.”
Brentford dominated the early stages and should probably have been ahead before Myles Hippolyte raced on to a Michael Onovwigun pass to score.
Goalkeeper Joe Taylor, playing behind a make shift back four that included Youth Team midfield players Max Herbert and Joe Maloney in the centre of defence, had to make a couple of saves but Brentford were largely comfortable and sealed the game in the second half.
“It is always good to get an early goal,” said Tyrell.
“And when you are on top you have to sustain the pressure.
“One goal isn’t enough; there is a risk you can concede.
“The second gives you security.
“We killed the game off in the second half.”
Brentford will play Uxbridge FC in the Middlesex Charity Cup, which supports the charity Help for Heroes, Final on Thursday, May 9.
The game will be played at Uxbridge’s ground – Honeycroft, in Horton Road, West Drayton – and kick off at 7.30pm.
Tyrell said he was looking forward to it.
“It will be a decent atmosphere and it is cup final,” said Tyrell.
“I love to play in any game whether it is one like this or against Brighton or Barnet.
“It is a cup final, I am up for it and I am ready.
“It is a chance to end the season with a medal.”
