Harry Forrester said Brentford produced a “good all-round performance” as they beat Oldham Athletic at Griffin Park on Saturday.
Brentford took the points thanks to an early Adam Forshaw goal and had to withstand a late aerial barrage from the visitors to take the win.
Harry spoke to The Bees Player Show after the match and said it was good to get an “ugly” win.
The victory came on the back of a 2-2 draw against AFC Bournemouth in midweek and Harry said Brentford had to convert more chances and continue to keep clean sheets if they are to feature at the top of the table.
“The boys did very well today,” said Harry.
“We have been talking about getting ugly 1-0s, that’s the way we can push on.
“Everyone put in a good shift today and we came out on top.
“It was a good all-round performance, everyone can be proud.
“It was a team effort to get the three points we needed.
“We know we will create chances.
“If you look midweek, we scored two goals away from home, not many teams will do that at Bournemouth.
“We have to start putting chances away; maybe we could have had more goals.
“We also have to make sure we keep clean sheets.
“An ugly 1-0 win counts as three points as well.”
Harry scored his first Brentford goal as a substitute against Bournemouth on Tuesday and has started two of the last three games.
He said he will continue to get better the more he plays.
Brentford are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Merseyside to take on npower League One leaders Tranmere Rovers.
“Players generally get better the more they play,” said the attacking midfield player.
“I’m only just setting out – I’ve only had two starts this season.
“There will be more to come with more minutes and game time under my belt.
“The more I play the better I get.
“Tranmere are flying, it will be a good test.
“We will go about it the way we do, go there and get a win.”
