Alan Judge said scoring a last minute goal is the best way to win a match.
Brentford beat Fulham at Griffin Park on Friday night thanks to a stoppage time strike from substitute Jota.
The Bees had fallen behind to a Hugo Rodallega goal but Harlee Dean, who gave the ball away to give Fulham their goal, came up with an equaliser inside the final ten minutes.
Jota then won the game with a deflected goal in the dying seconds.
Alan, speaking to Bees Player after the match, said he was so exhausted when the ball hit the net he just fell to the floor.
But, he added, there was nothing like a last minute winner.
“I just fell to the ground to be honest,” said Alan.
“I had nothing left.
“I passed the ball out to Jota and when it went in I just fell to the ground celebrating.
“I couldn’t believe it.
“It is the best way to win.
“But I would take a comfortable 2-0 all day instead of going to the wire.”
Brentford dominated most of the match and could have been a few goals ahead at half time.
Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli made a superb save to deny Toumani Diagouraga and also made saves from Jonathan Douglas, Tony Craig, Jon Toral and Alan himself.
David Button, in the Brentford goal, was largely untroubled before the break, making one save from Rodallega.
“Their keeper was on great form,” said Alan.
“We had some great shots saved, Dougie had one or two saved, Toums had a great shot saved, my free kick was saved.
“We had a few chances and they had one at the end of the first half.
“We could have been two or three up but also down 1-0.
“I thought it was a good game and the right result in the end.”
Brentford conceded the first goal when Dean slipped and passed straight to George Williams.
The ball was moved on quickly to Ross McCormack and then Rodallega, who finished it off.
Alan said everyone made mistakes and the players told Dean to find a response, which he did by smashing home the equalising goal.
Jota then won it late on.
“We were a bit upset to go behind but that is the second or third goal we have scored in the last minute this season,” said Alan.
“We know we can come back and we know we can cause damage to other teams.
“We just get on with it and go again.
“Everybody will lose the ball in a game.
“I do it three or four times a game.
“We just said to Harlee to get on with it and he produced the goods.
“It was a great finish.
“We knew we would get more chances, we just had to be patient.
“We had to get our confidence back and we did that.
“Thankfully we went on to win it.”
Brentford had not played their neighbours in a league match for more than 16 years and not beaten them since 1993.
A sell-out crowd rocked Griffin Park to its foundations when the winner hit the net.
“I know what it means to the supporters and I know what it means to the players,” said Alan.
“You could see that in the celebrations.
“This is a club on the up.
“We want to give the supporters something to celebrate.
“A win over the rivals is just that.
“There is an unbelievable mood in the dressing room at the moment.
“The lads are loving football at the moment.
“When you are winning games it is the best place to be.”
