Spain's Under-19s got their Elite Qualifying Round campaign for this summer's European Championships off to a winning start after a 2-0 win over Greece in Lepe last night. Aarón Martín Caricol powered home a header and Borja Mayoral scored from the spot as Spain took control midway through the first-half. Luis de la Fuente's side came close to extending that advantage through Mayoral, Darío Poveda and Mikel Oyarzabal but two goals proved enough. Sergi Canos was an unused substitute on Thursday night but will hope to be involved on Sunday as Spain take on Georgia in their second qualifying match.
Lasse Vibe played the final 30 minutes for Denmark in their friendly win over Iceland last night in Herning. Nicolai Jørgensen netted twice in four minutes just after the break to give The Danes the advantage. Lasse replaced the goalscorer on the hour and Iceland grabbed one goal back in the final minute through Arnor Traustason. It was Lasse's tenth cap for his country and he will be hoping to add an 11th on Tuesday when Denmark head to Glasgow to take on Scotland.
Ian Carlo Poveda was not involved as England Under-16s drew 2-2 with USA in their latest match at the Montaigu Tournament. Morgan Gibbs-White and Kane Wilson scored for the Young Lions but they were denied a second straight win by a last minute American equaliser. Dan Micciche's side play their final group game on Saturday when they face Brazil, a win for England will guarantee them a place in Monday's final.
