Liam O’Brien has swopped the dole queue for life in Sky Bet League One after Brentford handed him a lifeline this week.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper has signed a short term contract at the Club, as Richard Lee recovers from a shoulder injury sustained warming-up at Carlisle United in March.
"It's been brilliant to get the opportunity to come to Brentford and I'm really looking forward to doing well here," said Liam.
Released by Barnet in the summer after three seasons at Underhill, Liam had to wait for his chance to sign for someone else.
"I was training with another club and then the chance came to train here; I've done well enough to be given a contract so I’m buzzing," said Liam.
Having been at the club for a short time, his first impressions of the Club have been good.
"I love it, it's spot on, really professional, the lads are brilliant and the manager and his staff are great so I’m really happy to be here and say I’m a Brentford player," said Liam.
With two other fit goalkeepers at Brentford, competition for places will be tough.
"I want to come here and do what I can and push for the number one spot; whether I get it, I don’t know, but I'll do all I can and hope the Club can get promoted this season," said Liam, adding "All the goalkeepers get on so I’m really looking forward to working day-in, day-out with the lads."
