Adam Forshaw said he was “really pleased” to pick up the Goal of the Season prize at the Brentford FC Player of the Year Ball 2014.
The midfield player won the award for his goal away to Crewe Alexandra.
The Bees were 2-0 up at the time when he let fly from 35 yards and his shot whistled in to the top corner.
It was one of eight goals in 40 games for Adam in 2013/14, a season when he also finished third in the vote for Supporters’ Player of the Year.
Adam’s effort beat Marcello Trotta’s goal in the win at Leyton Orient in to second in the supporters’ poll while Sam Saunders’ strike in the Boxing Day win over Swindon Town finished third.
“I am surprised a few of Alan Judge’s goals weren’t in the nominations,” said Adam, collecting his award at the Player of the Year Ball earlier this month.
“It is nice to win the award.
“I’m really pleased.”
Describing the goal, Adam said: “Alan Judge scored a few good goals earlier in the game.
“I thought ‘why not have a go’, we were winning the game.
“Fortunately it went in the top corner.”
Adam had surgery on an ankle problem at the end of April and updated on his condition.
“I am doing well,” he said.
“I have been back in and will be back in over the summer to be right for pre-season.”
