Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said he expected the race for promotion from npower League One to go down to the final day of the season.
The Bees currently sit third in npower League One with nine games to go, the first of which is against Preston North End on Saturday.
Brentford then travel to Sheffield United next Saturday and face a home game against leaders Doncaster Rovers on the final day of the season.
Uwe said Brentford were where he wanted them to be and he thought it would go down to the wire.
“We are where we want to be,” said Uwe, speaking to Bees Player yesterday.
“There are a lot of points to play for.
“Our destiny will not be decided on Saturday, not the Saturday after.
“We want to hang in there.
“Every game is there to be won or to get points.
“I think it will go to the last day of the season.
“Having a home game against Doncaster is not too bad for us.”
The Bees moved up to third by beating fellow promotion-chasers Swindon Town on Tuesday.
Swindon started the day in third and were ahead at half time but Sam Saunders scored a penalty and Clayton Donaldson smashed home a winner to give The Bees the points.
The visitors played the game with a very high intensity and had the better of the first half but ran out of steam and Brentford kept going to take the win.
Uwe said Swindon playing fewer games than his side helped them to play at an intensity to trouble The Bees.
He added his side could have kept their heads down and accepted defeat but fought back to win.
“I think they have had a number of games less than us and more training weeks,” said Uwe.
“Our intensity and pressurising is normally very good but we don’t have much time between games at the moment.
“We rest, maintain and play and over time you miss a little bit.
“That is normal, any team would have problems.
“We have shown we have enough in the tank to go 90 minutes but we need to up our tempo.
“We had two ways to go at half time; we could keep our heads down and get beaten comfortably or go out and fight.
“We went out and fought.
“The young players have shown their character.
“It was fantastic to see the fighting spirit.
“Our big players turned it on in the second half.
“They gave the whole team a lift and the result was magnificent.
“I hope it puts us on a run again.”
The Bees entertain Preston on Saturday and Uwe said it would be a different team from the one his side drew 1-1 with earlier this season.
Simon Grayson has replaced Graham Westley as Preston boss and Uwe said the North End players were really putting it in for their new manager.
Preston have more yellow cards than any other team in League One and have committed more fouls but Uwe said the change in manager should be taken in to consideration.
“They have a different manager and try to play more football than they did at the start of the season,” he said.
“They still have the same characteristics of being physical and competitive but they also try to play.
“They have changed certain players and have good recent results.
“They have energy and the team is playing for the manager.
“It will be difficult to beat them but we are on home turf and we hope we succeed.”
Uwe said the support from the Brentford fans in the second half on Tuesday was magnificent but said he wished it would also happen when his team was not playing at their best.
He said the way teams came to Griffin Park to defend made things difficult for his side.
“I wish the crowd had the same intensity when things are not going so well as when they are,” said Uwe.
“That is when it is most needed.
“On Tuesday we have seven players under 22, the last thing they needed was to be booed off at half time, even if we are not playing our best
“I can understand the frustration with the players and coaches but we have to see how we get the best results and that is not the recipe, especially when we are still in the top six.
“The second half was magnificent but the players lifted the crowd, not the crowd lifted the players.
“Teams come to Griffin Park to defend with five men in midfield and try to break when we make a mistake in our build-up play.
“It is difficult for us, especially when the pitch is not in good condition.
“It is not an excuse but you always need an extra touch at the moment, that is enough for teams to close us down.”
Club Captain Kevin O’Connor and striker Farid El Alagui are set to play for Brentford’s Development Squad in an Under-21 Professional Development League Two South game against Charlton Athletic on Monday.
Kevin has been out since picking up an ankle injury in November while Farid has not played since he suffered a knee injury in October.
Uwe said he did not know how long they would play and both needed more training before they were ready for a First Team return.
“We have to speak to the medical and conditioning staff and see what they think,” said Uwe.
“Farid and Kevin will definitely start and we will see how long they last.
“It is the first game for a long time and against a good team.
“Even 60 or 75 minutes would be very beneficial for them.
“We played nine v nine in training today, that helped get match sharpness.
“We will see from week to week how they go.
“Farid is making a good impression but has to fine tune a few things.
“That is understandable after such a long time off the training field.”
