Henrik and Andreas start in qualifying win

Brentford duo help Denmark keep World Cup hopes alive

The Brentford defensive duo retained their starting spots following Friday’s 4-0 win over Poland as Åge Hareide’s side headed to Yerevan. Things started badly for The Danes as Ruslan Koryan’s sixth-minute wonderstrike put the hosts ahead. However, Henrik’s pinpoint cross found Thomas Delaney to level ten minutes later. Christian Eriksen’s sublime free-kick gave Denmark a half-time lead and Delaney netted twice more late on to complete his hat-trick and add gloss to the score-line.

The win keeps Denmark’s qualifying hopes very much alive with two games remaining. Poland still lead Group E with 19 points, three clear of Montenegro and The Danes. Next month sees Hareide’s side travel to Montenegro before hosting fourth-placed Romania in Copenhagen. Andreas has now featured 25 times for his nation while Henrik has earned six caps.

Marcus Forss also played the full 90 minutes as Finland’s Under-19s were beaten 9-0 by their Dutch counterparts in Vassa on Monday evening. The drubbing brought to an end a disappointing Four Nations tournament on home soil which has seen Kimmo Lipponen’s side lose all three games. The Brentford B striker has featured in all three games this week, taking his cap tally for his nation to 12 with six goals.
