Brentford’s next match in the Middlesex County Senior Charity Cup, which supports the charity Help for Heroes, will now be against Hanworth Villa after the invitation to Hampton and Richmond Borough to enter the competition was withdrawn.
The Bees were due to play Hampton and Richmond Borough in the Quarter-Finals on Thursday, the third attempt to play the match.
But as Hampton are no longer in the competition, The Bees have been given a bye to the Semi-Finals.
They will face Hanworth Villa on Thursday, May 2, in a match that will kick off at 7.45pm.
It will be played at Hanworth’s Rectory Meadow home, in Park Road, Hanworth, TW13 6PN.
Admission will be £5 with concessions £3.
The winners will play Uxbridge FC in the Final, which will be played at Uxbridge next Thursday, May 9.
Brentford’s Development Squad have been entered in the competition against the area’s non-league teams.
The competition raises money for Help for Heroes, the charity that supports service personnel wounded during Britain’s recent conflicts, with a portion of gate receipts from every game going to the cause.
The Hanworth tie will be Brentford’s second in the competition.
The Bees beat Staines Lammas in the First Round in November and were drawn to play away to the winners of the tie between North Greenford United and Hampton and Richmond Borough.
The teams were due to meet on Thursday, March 28, more than four months after Brentford’s win, but Hampton were awarded the tie.
Brentford were due to play Hampton on April 11, but the match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
It was then scheduled for Thursday, April 25, but was again called off as Hampton had to play a Ryman Premier League game against Canvey Island that had been postponed on Tuesday, April 23, due to a power failure.
Middlesex County FA said – in a statement released yesterday, Monday April 29 – the invitation to Hampton, who have not played a game in the 2012/13 competition, was withdrawn in order to complete the competition this season and raise as much money as possible for Help for Heroes.
Hanworth Villa have beaten Ashford Town (Middlesex) and Cockfosters, on penalties, to reach this stage.
Uxbridge beat Enfield Town in the other Semi-Final and will await Hanworth or Brentford in the Middlesex County Senior Charity Cup Final.
