Brentford B beat a Hearts XI 5-1 at the Oriam in Edinburgh on Tuesday with Ryan Trevitt and Tristan Crama both scoring twice whilst Alex Gilbert also found the net.
It was a second successive win by that score line having beaten Crewe Alexandra last time out in a display where the young Bees netted three times in the first 20 minutes in another ruthless showing.
B Team Head Coach Neil MacFarlane made three changes to the side that started the 5-1 win over Crewe on Saturday as Nico Jones, Angel Waruih and Max Dickov came into the side for the match in Edinburgh. The young Bees have been on a short-training camp in Scotland following their journey north to Crewe a few days prior.
Lighting start from the Bees
It was a stunning start from the young Bees as they took the game to their opponents right from the off. On four minutes a ball forward from defence in the air saw Alex Gilbert flick the ball on with his head into the path of Yehor Yarmoliuk. The Ukrainian managed to outmuscle his opponent and work a shot onto his left foot but his effort was just wide of goal.
Just a minute later though the Bees did have the lead as Trevitt got his first. Fresh from grabbing two goals last time out against Crewe, he once again impressed as the Bees won the ball high up the field through Crama. It found it way to Gilbert who fed the Bees’ number 11, and he curled a right footed shot into the bottom left-hand corner to make it 1-0.
It was 2-0 just a couple of minutes later and the goal came courtesy of a set piece. An in swinging corner was expertly nodded on by Trevitt to the far corner of the goal. Crama then challenged to ensure the ball ended up in the net to grab his first of the day.
Hearts then had their first attempt on 10 minutes when forward player Connor Smith cut onto his right foot from the left-hand side. His brilliantly curled strike towards the far corner then crashed against the cross bar.
On 21 minutes it became 3-0 to Brentford when Trevitt grabbed his second after good work from Max Dickov. The right back darted down the right before he crossed low to find his teammate unmarked as he slotted in with composure.

It could have been more in the first period with Yarmoliuk having his effort with the outside of his right foot well blocked on the line as the Hearts defenders rushed back.
Smith then had another opportunity for the home side just after the half hour mark when a misplaced pass in defence found its way to the Hearts forward and he opted to take his shot on early as his powerful effort was straight at Rees.
Just prior to half-time it could well have been 4-0 when Brentford had another attempt cleared off the line when Yarmoliuk, who is looking ever more comfortable in a Brentford shirt, threaded the ball through to find the run of Trevitt. The youngster then rounded the keeper but was denied by another clearance off the line.

The second period didn’t quite start as frantic in terms of chances at goal as both sides traded possession. An early Trevitt flick from a set piece edged just over before it became 4-0 on the hour. Patient play on the edge of the box saw Yarmoliuk slide a ball into the path of Gilbert, who made no mistake as he fired into the bottom left-hand corner. The youngster, who was once again deployed centrally made it three goals in two games having also netted two against Crewe.
Just three minutes later it was 5-0 and the goal once again came from a set piece. The corner wasn’t dealt with by the Hearts defence as Crama was on hand to tap home and claim his second of the match.

The Bees remained in control throughout and could well have made is 6-0 when Val Adedokun drove down the left before checking back onto his right foot. He delivered with expert precision to the head of Gilbert, but he forced the Hearts keeper into a smart stop.
The home side still carried somewhat of a threat, though, as they won the ball back on midway before the ball was spread out to Finlay Pollock. The Hearts man drove down the left before cutting inside and powering an effort towards the near post but it was just wide of goal.
Hearts did get a goal on 80 minutes and it came when the ball was given away in defence by the Bees which meant that Makenzie Kirk was one-v-one with Roco Rees as he converted past the Brentford man.
