Harlee Dean said Brentford were unlucky not to win their Sky Bet League One match against Shrewsbury Town.
The Bees were a goal up heading in to the final seconds of the 90 minutes when Tom Eaves equalised.
He capitalised when a Tony Craig header hit him and smashed it home.
Harlee admitted it was disappointing to concede so late and said there was a feeling that The Bees had dropped two points.
They looked set for a win thanks to a Marcello Trotta goal – the striker reacted quickest to tap home after his penalty had been saved.
Harlee said Brentford had scored their shared of late goals in the past 18 months and would have to take it on the chin.
“We came here expecting to win and with other results going as they have, we feel it is two points dropped,” said the defender.
“We had one shot against us and they got a goal.
“We have been unlucky.
“It was a good performance, away from home, in difficult conditions.
“We can take positives from it.
“It is especially disappointing to concede late but these things happen.
“We have scored plenty of late goals.
“We will take it on the chin and go again.”
Harlee was playing his first game since January 1, having missed out recently because of injury.
He said the conditions – heavy pitch, rain falling, strong wind blowing from one end to the other and in to the faces of Brentford’s defence in the first half – made life tough.
The defender said he felt The Bees handled conditions well.
“It was tough, especially for my first game back,” said Harlee.
“The ground was heavy and we had the wind in our faces.
“It was tough, conditions wise.
“Taking all that in to account, we might have taken a point.
“It was just disappointing it was in the last minute.
“We tried to carry on playing but they pressed us and we had to kick it.
“That affected us a bit.
“It was the same for both teams.
“They had it in their faces in the second half.
“We handled it well.
“We tried to play and I think we were the better team.
“We conceded in the last minute so we are disappointed.
“We opened them up; unfortunately we couldn’t do it more.”
Harlee said he felt good after the game.
He admitted sharpness would come from playing games and said he owed Brentford Manager Mark Warburton for putting him back in the team as The Bees had taken ten points from four games in his absence.
“I feel good,” said Harlee.
“It was tough and I am still not 100 per cent sharp but that will come with playing games.
“I owe the gaffer a lot for putting me back in.
“It would have been easy to leave me out with the run we have been on.
“Hopefully I can get sharp and finish the season strong.
“I thought we did well defensively.
“We are disappointed with the goal but I thought we did well.”
Brentford’s draw made it 18 Sky Bet League One games unbeaten.
They have won 15 of those and taken 48 points from the last 54 and are top of the table.
Their next game is at home to Crawley Town next Saturday, February 8.
Harlee said he expected his recovery to take longer than normal but he would do everything to give himself the best opportunity to play well next week.
“We are doing really well,” said Harlee.
“We just have to keep it going.
“We are unbeaten again.
“We have Crawley at home next Saturday and we will look to go again.
“It will take me a while longer to recover from today as it is my first for a while.
“I will be professional and do everything right and give myself the best opportunity for playing well next Saturday.”
