Harlee Dean gave his post match reaction to the win over Leeds United, which puts Brentford in fourth place in the Sky Bet Championship.
“It was a great result to bounce back from defeat last week,” said Harlee.
“To come to Elland Road, a big club with history and get a clean sheet and got the result we deserved I think.
“It’s not the best football we’ve played and not the best pitch either, but to come out and react, dig in and grind a result out like that - which I think that’s what it was – it’s just a testament to us that we can do both, dig in, defend and battle.”
Analysis of the opponents was an integral part of the win.
“We did a lot of work in the week analysis wise as we usually do,” said Harlee.
“They pushed on even more so than I thought they would, both their wingers and midfielders were joining in; because of that they were open at the back and we were in.
“Especially after last week after making a mistake, it’s in your mind not to make another one.
“[It’s] a clean sheet, which is three in five and only two goals conceded in five – I think we’re on the right track.”
Harlee praised the second half substitutions by manager Mark Warbuton and the important of the 18 travelling.
“The half time team talk was that we hadn’t played as well as we could,” said Harlee.
“We had to step it up a gear, the subs made a big difference today.
“That’s what we need; it’s a squad game and people come off the bench and changed it for us, and that’s what happened.”
