Brentford’s crowd figure against Ipswich Town on Saturday broke new records. It was the largest opening day league match attendance at Griffin Park for 50 years, when The Bees won 6-1 against Queens Park Rangers on 21 August 1965 in front of 15,209 spectators.
Saturday’s figure of 10,789 was more than a thousand up on 12 months ago, when Brentford drew 1-1 with Charlton Athletic in front of 9,690.
The Club's record opening day attendance was set on 20 August 1949, when Brentford played Tottenham Hotspur with 32,793 spectators present at Griffin Park.
