Clayton Donaldson said six points for Brentford were more important than his two goals in back-to-back home wins.
The Bees beat Bradford City at Griffin Park on Saturday, March 8, and followed that up with a win against Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday, March 11.
Both games were 2-0 wins with goals coming in the second half.
Clayton said the games were similar – Brentford dominated throughout and got their goals later in the proceedings.
Clayton scored the first against Bradford with George Saville getting the second.
Against Tranmere James Tarkowski headed home the first and Clayton finished off a flowing move, nodding in from close range, for the second.
Clayton, speaking to Bees Player: Match Day Live after the Tranmere win, said the goals – his 50th and 51st for Brentford – were a bonus, the points were all-important.
“With goals and wins it has been a good few days,” he said.
“The points are most important but the goals are an added bonus for me personally.
“Tranmere’s goalkeeper was time wasting from the start.
“They caused us problems early on and hit the crossbar but the game was similar to Saturday.
“We had to be patient.
“We started the second half strongly, as we did on Saturday.
“We got the first goal, which was coming.
“We were getting closer and it was a matter of time.
“Once the first goal went in, that was it.
“Defenders getting goals is a bonus for us.
“James is a good signing, he has settled in well and is a good player.”
Brentford are third in Sky Bet League One, a point behind second-placed Leyton Orient, who they face on Saturday.
Clayton said it was a big game and one that the neutrals, and a Sky TV audience, would enjoy.
However, he added it was important to remember it was only three points up for grabs.
“Games are coming thick and fast,” said the striker.
“There are lots of points to play for.
“We have a big game on Saturday and three points is what we are looking for.
“It is a big opportunity for us.
“Both teams won on Tuesday and have momentum.
“It will be a good game for the neutrals.
“I think if we can go there and play our football we will be OK.
“Everyone looks at these sorts of games but it is only three points for the win.
“Any points we can get are a plus.
Clayton said Brentford had to forget the Orient match was a televised London derby involving two teams pushing for promotion and play their game.
“We don’t want to jump too far ahead,” he said.
“Leyton Orient is just another team in front of us.
“If we get caught up in the situation we will lose our heads.
“This is three points to be won.
“If we set our stalls out, we will be OK.”
