Day Seven started out as an overcast day and remained that way pretty much throughout.
It was breakfast as normal with the doors then open to those who required any attention to their well worked joints prior to a session on the track which is all part of this excellent all-encompassing sports complex.
It was similar to the regular warm up sessions led by super fit Chris Haslam (but track based to break the monotony), whilst the three keepers together with Chris's accomplice Tom Perryman (who has the most enormous thighs you have ever seen other than Sir Christopher Hoy), and goalkeeping coach Simon Royce had a training session in the beach volleyball area.
This was particularly tough as the sand saps a lot of energy out of your legs.
As with every session I've witnessed, the players each gave 100 per cent plus.
On completion of the goalkeeping session I took a phone call from a lady who coincidentally was based in Germany and she asked if Simon Royce was here.
She explained why she wanted to know and I asked her to send me a confirming email to pass on to Roycie.
Well, it transpires that my room mate, when staying overnight for away games, is related, unbeknown to him, to Henry Royce who teamed up with Charles Rolls back in 1906 to form one of the best brand names in the world.
It appears that Frederick Henry Royce was Simon's great grand uncle and having researched the fact, this German TV company who produce a programme entitled (in English) I Bear A Famous Name, have invited Roycie over to Baden Baden, all expenses paid, to appear in one episode.
Given his new found fame, and his potential inheritance, he now wisely has an agent to manage his affairs - me!
Lunch was followed by a fairly relaxing afternoon which gave people the opportunity to have a bike ride, stroll into town or just take it easy round the campus prior to the week’s final training session.
Club Physiotherapist Daryl Martin and Kit Man Bob Oteng took the opportunity to take a ride out to fill up with fuel in readiness for the nine hour journey back home after the game against Erfurt which Bob will undertake with Neil Greig.
They reported back of an off the wall conversation with a German guy in the petrol station who saw their tops.
He enquired if they were with Brentford Football Club and when they said yes he said "can I ask you a question?
He proceeded to ask them "how do you spell caboodle?"
That's Germany for you.
The training session was as testing as always before we all traipsed back to the main building to prepare for dinner.
In the interim, Sporting Director Mark Warburton had arrived having flown in specifically to catch up with the squad and staff prior to Saturdays friendly
After dinner the time difference of one hour worked in our favour as we were able to watch Andy Murray storm his way through to the Men's Singles Final at Wimbledon.
We almost felt he was one of us as he sported his Adidas top.
Then it was off to bed in readiness for our final day of this very rewarding pre-season training camp.
