Brentford’s Futsal Bees travel to Oxford’s brand new Futsal arena to take on Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday. The Football League Trust Futsal South East League clash sees both clubs face each other in ‘A’ and ‘B’ team fixtures.
With Brighton fielding five teams in the league, Brentford can expect two extremely competitive matches. However, The Seagulls were unable to play their opening league fixture a fortnight ago when a technical problem at The SportHouse in Barking meant that the matches had to be cancelled.
The Bees ‘A’ team lost 4-2 to Southampton in a match they were always chasing after conceding two goals in the opening four minutes. An improved second half performance couldn’t make up for the poor start.
Head Coach Luis Melville said, “After the Southampton match we had a review of the match footage and identified the issue that caused us to concede those first two goals. I am confident in what I have seen in training since then that the squad have taken on board those lessons. As always, the true test will be in a competitive game."
Brentford Futsal Club’s ‘B’ team will also face Brighton and Hove Albion ‘B’.
The Futsal scholars are taking part in a two year BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport, which is the equivalent of three A levels. Their current module is looking at mental preparation for matches so this week has also tied in the classroom work into practical work on the court at their Osterley training base.
