Brentford's Futsal Bees are celebrating as the A team secured their place in the National League One Play-Offs with, barring a 15 goal defeat, the B team soon to follow. Only needing a point to secure a place in the FLT Futsal National League 1 play-offs, Brentford ‘A’s took a while to get going against a determined Southend United.
Mason Roseboom scored after three minutes to put The Bees into the lead but then an uncomfortable 10 minutes ensued for the TW8 scholars. Some careless marking allowed the Shrimpers to equalise and then a few minutes later it was Southend who took a deserved lead with 14 minutes on the clock.
Finally, The Bees started to get going and Brad Scott equalised two minutes later. It took Bees ‘F.A. Centre of Excellence’ player, Azhan Iqbal, to put Brentford ahead and that lead was doubled before the break when Harman Sandhu got on the score sheet.
Louis Dailey scored eight seconds after the restart and added two more to complete an eight minute hat trick. Iqbal completed his hat-trick and Dailey added another before a late United consolation goal made the final score 10-3 to The Bees.
Dailey bagged the Man of the Match award but, more importantly, Brentford secured the runners-up spot and that all important Nationals Final Play-Off place which takes place at Birmingham in mid-June
The Futsal Bees ‘B’ team are on the brink of qualification after a comfortable win against The Shrimpers ‘B’ in this South East League 2 clash in East London. It was an excellent day for Frankie Finn, who bagged five goals. He opened the scoring after two minutes,Humzah Karim adding a second six minutes later. Abas Ali then scored two goals, one of them an audacious back heel from four metres to put the Bees 4-0 up after 10 minutes. Further goals for Karim, Kyle O’Neill, an unfortunate own goal, and finally Ali completing his hat trick meant the Bees went into the interval with the score at 8-0.
Brentford then took the opportunity to play with the ‘fly-keeper’. Charlie Rose, the Bees stopper, scored twice with Finn contributing another four goals. Southend scored an excellent goal to make the final score 14-1.
Due to Peterborough United defaulting their ‘B’ team game for the second successive match week, (for which Chelsea were awarded a 5-0 win) the final equation for the Futsal Bees ‘B’ team is that they need to avoid a defeat by 15 goals against Chelsea on 18th May in their final game to qualify for the League 2 National League play-offs.
