Brentford has teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice throughout the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.
Scout will use its expertise to provide information, advice and Gameweek picks that could help you stay on top of your mini-leagues.
Best of the Bees
Despite Gameweek 8 bringing Brentford’s first league defeat of the season, there were still plenty of positives for FPL managers. Keane Lewis-Potter (£5.5m) scored his second league goal of 2026/27, ably assisted by forward Igor Thiago (£7.8m). Thiago has now registered an attacking return in each of his last three Premier League matches.
Meanwhile, Kristoffer Ajer (£4.5m) registered the two additional Defensive Contributions points which are available to outfield players. Defenders, like Ajer, register Defensive Contribution points for completing 10 defensive actions in a single match. Defensive actions for defenders are classified as blocks, clearances, interceptions and successful tackles. Ajer registered 13 defensive actions in the game against Liverpool.
Vitaly Janelt (£5.0m) just missed out on achieving the extra two points. He registered 11 defensive actions in Gameweek 7 but, unlike the defenders who need 10, midfielders need 12 actions to unlock the extra points.
Sepp van den Berg (£4.9m) was popular with FPL managers during the 2025/26 campaign. The defender got his first start of Premier League season in Gameweek 7 and will likely be back on FPL managers' radars as a result. The 14 per cent of FPL managers who own Kevin Schade (£6.2m) will also have been pleased that he was fit enough to come on at half-time, despite getting injured during Gameweek 6.
The Spotlight
After a 14-point haul in Gameweek 1, Mamadou Sangaré’s (£5.5m) game time has been limited in recent weeks, with the midfielder playing more than 45 minutes on three of seven occasions. With Janelt and Yehor Yarmoliuk (£4.8m) suspended following red cards in Gameweek 7, Sangaré’s FPL managers will be hoping to see the midfielder start in Gameweek 8.
The Mali international has potential for returns at both ends of the pitch. In his season with Lens, Sangaré delivered a huge 14.20 defensive actions per 90 minutes, alongside returning three goals and four assists.
So far for the Bees, Sangaré is currently averaging even more defensive actions per 90 with 14.53. The midfielder registered an impressive eight defensive actions in one half versus Liverpool and 11 actions in just 43 minutes against Aston Villa the previous week.
Sangaré has had six shots in the league across the opening seven gameweeks. Of these, four have come from inside the box. He has also created five chances, of which one has been defined as an Opta big chance.
Best of the Rest
Elsewhere, Pedro Neto (£6.5m) scored both goals in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Everton, resulting in a 15-point FPL return.
Erling Haaland (£15.7m) also bagged a brace for Manchester City, tallying 13 points in Gameweek 7. This will have been particularly pleasing for the 664,000 managers who played their Triple Captain chip on him.
Bournemouth striker Evanilson (£6.1m) collected 12 points, courtesy of a goal and assist against Sunderland. As for Brighton and Hove Albion, four of their players hit double digit returns in their 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace.
Yasin Ayari (£5.4m) was the Seagulls’ top scoring FPL player with 13 points.
In Demand
Pascal Groß (£6.1m) and Maxim De Cuyper (£5.2m) are once again proving popular with FPL managers thanks to Brighton’s big win in Gameweek 7. Groß is the most transferred in so far ahead of the Gameweek 8 deadline, with De Cuyper the fourth most popular.
Manchester City’s Rayan Cherki (£8.0m) and Bournemouth’s Marcus Tavernier (£6.2m) are the second and third most transferred in. Man City play Aston Villa in Gameweek 8, whilst Bournemouth face Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Many FPL managers are parting company with Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.8m) and Antoine Semenyo (£8.3m). Both midfielders are red flagged in the game because of injuries. Bruno Fernandes (£11.8m) and Yoane Wissa (£6.1m) are also both being heavily transferred out. Both players have failed to return any FPL points, outside of appearance points, since Gameweek 2.
All Gameweek 8 transfers, chip activations and starting XIs must be locked in by Friday’s 18.30 BST deadline.
Captaincy
In terms of the armband, a Villa Park visit doesn’t look amazing for Haaland, who is currently yellow flagged in the game. The Norwegian has scored only once in five meetings with them, but he’s also so consistent right now, netting eight times in six games.
Gameweek 8 could be a good opportunity for a differential captain. Chelsea trio João Pedro (£7.9m), Cole Palmer (£9.7m) and Morgan Rogers (£7.9m) host Tottenham in Gameweek 8 and could be good options for the FPL armband.
Meanwhile, Tavernier is in good form against a Manchester United team without a clean sheet in the league this season.
