Brentford have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.
Scout will use their expertise to provide info, advice and Gameweek picks which may prove valuable in ensuring you sit on top of your mini-leagues.
Best of the Bees
Ahead of the international break, the Bees’ emphatic 3-0 home win over Chelsea kept them unbeaten and put them fourth in the table.
Jannik Schuster (£4.5m) was Brentford’s highest scoring player in Gameweek 5 and the fourth highest scoring player for the week across the game.
Schuster assisted Jaidon Anthony’s (£5.9m) goal, registered a clean sheet and the maximum three bonus points as well as two Defensive Contribution points. Defenders need to register 10 defensive actions (clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles won) in a single game to register the two additional defensive contribution points.
The German delivered 16 defensive actions against Chelsea. He has now made three Premier League appearances this season and has returned Defensive Contribution points in all of them.
FPL darling Kevin Schade (£6.2m) returned for his owners again in Gameweek 5. The midfielder registered two assists for a nine FPL point tally. Igor Thiago (£7.8m) and Fábio Carvalho (£5.0m) both scored their first goals of the Premier League season, resulting in them registering five and six points respectively.
The defensive players also performed well in Gameweek 5. Kristoffer Ajer (£4.5m) returned seven points, with Caoimhín Kelleher (£5.0m) and Michael Kayode (£4.6m) each registering six points.
The 1.6 million owners of Mamadou Sangaré (£5.6m) will feel disappointed that he was utilised as substitute, however.
The Spotlight
Centre-forward Thiago made a fast start to 2025/26, netting 11 times in the first 13 matches, but it took time for the Brazilian to get off the mark this term. As a result, Thiago is a differential in the game at 9.2% ownership and so could be a great investment for managers looking to climb their mini-leagues and improve their overall ranks.
And there’s no reason to doubt that the goals will flow from this point. In his previous three club campaigns – excluding the injury-ravaged 2024/25 – Thiago averaged almost 25 goals in all competitions.
He was last season’s second highest for goals (22), box shots (80), attempts on target (43) and Opta-defined big chances (41). Only Erling Haaland (£15.6m) could better Thiago in these metrics.
In FPL, a precious skill is to think ahead when making transfers, rather than react to points already missed out on. Thiago is one for the present and future.
Best of the Rest
Elsewhere, the only three to outscore Schuster were Brian Brobbey (£5.7m), Antoine Semenyo (£8.4m) and Jay Dasilva (£4.0m).
The first two kept exchanging goals during a 5-3 thriller at Etihad Stadium. Sunderland’s striker scored a hat-trick, while Semenyo returned two goals and an assist. However, both of them are now flagged in the game after injury concerns over the international break.
Coventry defender Dasilva scored and kept a clean sheet in the newly-promoted sides first win of the season.
15 players ended up with a double-digit haul, including Johan Manzambi (£5.9m), Matheus Cunha (£7.9m) and Pascal Groß (£5.9m).
In Demand
Groß has now registered 13 or more points in four matches this season, making him FPL’s overall top scorer. The German represents good value for FPL managers and so he’s unsurprisingly the most popular transfer in over the international break.
Brighton & Hove Albion colleagues Charalampos Kostoulas (£5.6m) and Maxim De Cuyper (£5.0m) are also amongst the top four most bought, alongside Brentford’s very own Schade.
All Gameweek 6 transfers, chip activations and starting XIs must be locked in by Saturday’s 11am (BST) deadline.
Captaincy
Captaincy could be a difficult decision for FPL managers this week. Bruno Fernandes (£11.9m) has been heavily sold in recent weeks, while Chelsea attackers Cole Palmer (£9.7m) and João Pedro (£7.7m) have yellow injury flags by their name. This would usually set up a straightforward Haaland captaincy.
However, even if the trip to Liverpool doesn’t deter FPL managers, his request to come off during the latest Norway match might.
After Haaland, the player responsible for this season’s most big chances is Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka (£9.6m), who host Leeds United.
Perhaps it’s even a good moment to place the armband on a differential like Morgan Gibbs-White (£8.0m) or Thierno Barry (£5.7m).
